Happy pre-Thanksgiving Friday, everyone! I actually cannot believe Thanksgiving is less than a week away, but here we are. Who’s ready to eat?! 🙋🏻 We’re hosting this year, and I’m pretty excited about it. I love to host, and we’ve never done Thanksgiving at our home before. We’ll have 17 people joining us! It will be a full house and a mix of my family and my husband’s family. I can’t fit that many people at my dining room table, so I just ordered a folding table and chairs on Amazon for the occasion. I decided to cater about half of the meal, and the rest either I’ll cook or family will bring with them. I haven’t figured out my tablescape situation yet, but I plan on looking into that this weekend.

Time for highs and lows…

It’s been a few weeks since my last Liz List, and I’ve had quite a few highs since then! It’s been a good run. Our home was featured in Good Housekeeping, my best friend cried when she walked into her bridal shower (exactly the reaction I was hoping for… nothing makes me happier!!!), my husband and I took a long weekend trip to New York away from the baby AND I took a girl’s trip to Savannah that was 💯(highly recommend Savannah, by the way). It’s been a month of fun, that’s for sure.

And then this morning I got some SUPER exciting news… 🥁

Our home (and our designer Heather Scott Home & Design) is going to be featured in this year’s Tribeza Home Tour! If you aren’t from Austin, this is kind of a big deal Every year Tribeza Magazine picks a handful of homes and does a designer’s showcase around the city. Here’s a look at the homes chosen for last year’s tour. To be honest I’m a little surprised they chose us! Not because I don’t think the design is worthy, but our home is a little further outside the usual neighborhoods where most of the homes are located. But maybe there’s a few others out this way too! Regardless, I’m excited (and a little nervous). I don’t know many details yet, but more to come.

My low this week? Guys I’m so sorry to be one of those annoying people who complains about being exhausted from traveling and doing fun things (I promise I’m self aware here), but I just need a moment to say… I’m tired. Like in my bones tired. I need a break. And this week I made a commitment to myself to schedule time in my schedule to do NOTHING. If I don’t schedule it, it won’t happen. Thankfully we’ve got NO plans this weekend, so I’ll be enjoying every moment of it before the craziness of Thanksgiving begins. I might even make Beef Bourguignon on Saturday! It’s the French version of pot roast, and it’s the shit. If I do, I’ll be sure to share more on Instagram stories.

Without further ado, here’s what I’ve been into lately:

  • RECIPE: A winter Aperol Spritz recipe! What gives it that winter flavor? A little cranberry juice and a sprig of Rosemary. So simple! I haven’t tried it yet, but I’ll keep you posted! Shout out to my friend Amanda who shared this with me!

  • WELLNESS: This article from the Every Girl is timely given this week’s low. It’s called “How To Avoid The Productivity Trap” and I swear it’s like they knew I was out here needing to read it. 😅 My personality type is super driven by productivity and efficiency. If I’m not knocking items off my never-ending to do list, then it is not a good day. Like literally it will ruin my day. And especially post-baby (now that my schedule is no longer my own) and coming off this busy month of travel and events, I needed to read this. I’m constantly switched on and never relax. I’m very much still adjusting to new mom life, and honestly there’s just less room in my schedule. I need to be much better about prioritizing - and actually scheduling - off time! 💆🏻

  • DESIGN: Rachel Parcell at Pink Peonies revealed her little girl Isla’s room this week and it is (of course) stunning. That wallpaper! 😍 I also really love the rug (which btw is very reasonably priced)! And the pink velvet bed! Too cute and so fabulous. I am 33 and I would like this to be my room. 😂

  • HOME TOUR: Very into the vibes of this rustic ranch located in Sonoma, California that design Becki Owens shared on her blog this week. If I ever have a ranch, this will for sure be on the mood board. I die over all those beautiful windows. I feel peaceful just looking at it! The exterior is 💯. It’s very European while still remaining modern, which I love.

  • BIZ NEWS: Billionaire Kylie Jenner sold 51% of her cosmetics company to Coty (parent company of Cover Girl) for $600 million. Industry insiders are praising the sale as a savvy business move on Jenner’s part. She’ll still be involved in the company and will remain the face of the brand, but selling to a major holding company like Coty should take Kylie Beauty to a new level and give the brand international reach.

  • HOLIDAY DECOR I really liked these simple Christmas garland ideas from House Beautiful. There are a few rooms in my house that are pretty barren come Christmas time (like my home office and formal dining room). But now I’ve got some good decor inspo I might just incorporate into the mix this year (assuming I find the time)! Especially if you’ve got a smaller space, I thought these were really good ideas!

  • JUST FOR FUN: NASA is sending wine into space to study how it ages in zero-gravity. Yes, for real. Space-aged wine is in our future! 🍷 So silly, but honestly kind of cool. Scientists will study how 12 bottles of Bordeaux age in space over a year’s time versus 12 of the same varietal that will be aging back on planet earth. Per the article, “It is hoped the results… can be used to improve food conservation methods and improve taste, particularly in the face of the challenge of climate change.” Apparently wine is ideal for a study like this because of its unique yeast and bacteria.

That’s it for this week!

XOXO,

Liz
