My Easter Tablescape

I can’t believe it’s almost Easter already. 🐰 Time… I’m gonna need you to s l o w d o w n. I feel like it was just yesterday that we hosted our family for Easter Brunch last year! Usually I play hostess on this holiday, but unfortunately, it’s too close to my due date, so I’m (understandably) abdicating my hostessing duties this year. BUT that doesn’t mean I can’t share my Easter tablescape with you! 🤗

Easter is up there on my list of favorite holidays. Not only because of what we’re celebrating (He is risen! 💒), but also because it coincides with such a lovely time of year here in Texas. Weather wise, it’s warmed up just enough to heat up the pool so everyone can take a dip after brunch, but it’s not yet so unbearably hot that it’s too uncomfortable to be outdoors. It’s the sweet spot. 😎 Not to mention the flowers are blooming and everything is still so green and fresh and gorgeous. 🌸🌱🐣

Oh and let’s not forget the rosé. It’s rosé season, people. 🍾

Typically, David and I cook a big brunch and either set up a waffle bar (kids love this) OR I cook a couple different types of breakfast casserole and add some muffins plus a salad. Mimosas are flowing. There’s an Easter egg hunt in the yard for our nieces and nephews (complete with a golden egg). The pool is heated up and ready. It’s quite nice.

But enough about me. Let’s talk about this table. Last year, I shared a very similar set up to the one you see here on my Instagram stories, and I remember I got a lot of messages from friends asking where I found these adorable bunny plates! Answer: Pottery Barn. And good news! Though they were sold out last year, you’re in luck because they’re restocked and they’re still available AND they’re on sale! Score.

Like I said, the salad plates are from Pottery Barn (dinner plates no longer available, sorry!). A lot of the other items you see on the table are from PB as well, including: the gingham napkins, the kissing bunny napkin rings, the silver bunny salt & pepper shakers, the white bunny basket serving bowl, and the silver tiered stand.

The eyelet table cloth is also from Pottery Barn, but it’s no longer available. However, I found a very similar table cloth to mine here.

You can find woven chargers like mine anywhere, and you can get them on the cheap… no need to spend too much money here. I highly recommend finding and investing in some to have on hand because they’re probably the most versatile thing I have on this table. I use them all the time!

Since we’re on the subject of entertaining, here’s a pro-tip I picked up on our travels abroad (fancy, I know 💁🏻)… get yourself some of these airtight glass water bottles. It’s what the French and Italians do, and they know a thing or two about entertaining. We set them out on the table every time we have company over so no one has to walk back and forth to the kitchen for more water. Game changer. Plus it makes me feel v. European and fancy. 👸🏻 A win win.

If you don’t really have a lot of holiday or occasion specific entertaining pieces (which I imagine is most people!), but you’re interested in growing your collection over time… here’s my advice on how to get started. 👩🏻‍🏫 First, start with basic, white plates. When you’ve got a versatile set of white plates, then it’s super easy to buy occasion or holiday specific items (like salad plates or napkins) to layer into your tablescape. Doing it this way means you don’t have to buy a full set of matching dinner plates and serveware all at once, which saves money. Finally, if you’re just getting started then I’d avoid buying a set that screams one particular holiday (like I did here with the bunny plates). For example, think pumpkins over turkeys for Thanksgiving, or purchase a pretty floral pattern over bunnies that will work all spring and summer long vs. just on Easter Sunday.

And finally, like I mentioned earlier, definitely get some chargers. A lot of people overlook them, but they really add dimension to the table (plus they protect your furniture from condensation rings and messy spills). If you’re more casual, then get a woven set. If you’re a little fancier, then go with silver or gold (for my fancier events, I have and use this set).

Sometimes (though not always!) skipping the paper plates and setting a nice table really helps make the memories a little more special. That being said, I hope my Easter tablescape inspires you to create one of your own this year, regardless of whether you decide to go with paper, plastic, or glass! At the end of the day, it’s the people around the table who make things memorable - not the things on top of it. ☺️

That’s all, folks! 🐰
