Hi! It’s me again. 👋🏻

When I sat down to write this, I quickly scrolled back through old blog posts and was shocked to realize it’s been almost an entire year since I last published a “Liz List”. 😳 Which is sad because these regular Friday posts were always my favorite to put together. If you’re new here, it’s where I give mini-updates on what’s been going on behind the scenes and what I’ve got planned coming up + I link to things that are inspiring me or interesting articles I’ve read or link shoppable items I’ve had my eye on… really any and everything on my radar I think is worth sharing.

This week has been nice because I feel like I finally got my mojo back post-move. And yes, I know the move was in April! 😅 It’s taken me a while to feel settled here and to recover (both physically and emotionally). I now have so much more empathy for people who move! I’d never done a move of this scale - with a toddler no less! - and it’s hard. Also, lately I feel like I’m FINALLY able to see above the fog that was the year 2020 through early 2021. Does anyone else feel like it’s taken you this long to feel like yourself again after the pandemic, or is it just me? I’ve just now reached the point where I can look back on it with some clarity and can tie a bow around the lessons I learned from that experience. It’s a nice feeling. 😊

On the home front, I’m working on a few different projects. 1) Finalizing the storage cabinet and “slat wall” design layout for our garage. I’ll share more about this soon! 2) I’m in the initial phase of compiling inspiration for our primary bedroom design. I always put together a deck highlighting my vision for a space, choose a color palette, note any specific pieces I’d like included, and provide input on the layout. My designer is coming over next week to measure and will then get started on fabric and furniture selections. My hope is for the space to be done sometime in December! 3) Wrapping up our family room renovation. We’re still waiting on the cane-front cabinet doors to arrive, but they’ll be done soon. After that, it’s just touch up paint & punch list items! The furniture for that room was ordered back in April, and I recently began purchasing items decor items (which I’ll link to below!)

Speaking of decorating, I’m on the hunt for the perfect vintage armoire for our primary bedroom. It’s tricky because I need it to be the right size. It’s got to be large enough to proportionally fill up the nook it’s going in and be able to fit a 55 inch TV. I’ve spotted a couple online, but the measurements haven’t been right. If you guys see any, holler at your girl!

And with that, here’s what I’ve been into lately…

  • HOME DECOR // Here are some of the decor items I’ve picked up recently for the family room: one of these vintage “confit” jars, this reclaimed wooden chain, I’m on the waitlist for these ceramic beads, and a bunch of coffee table books for styling: this sage green one, this terracotta one, this super luxe linen one, and I finally snagged a copy of Amber Lewis’ book (clearly she’s a big source of inspiration for me lately!). I also bought my first piece of original art for the new house! It’s by local landscape artist Aileen Fitzgerald. Check out her beautiful work here! 🖼️

  • INSTAGRAM // At a friend’s suggestion, I recently started following Dr. Becky Kennedy on Instagram. If you’re a parent, I highly recommend! She also has some good marriage advice sprinkled in here and there. As someone who naturally has a hard time connecting with my own feelings (something I’m working on in therapy, haha), I sometimes miss the mark on helping my daughter navigate hers. Her Instagram posts, podcast, and newsletter are all great resources if you want to grow in the “feelings” arena. ❤️

  • WORLD NEWS // The French are super pissed at the Russians. Why? Last week Russian President Vladamir Putin signed a law banning foreign sparkling wine producers from using the term “Champagne”. Can you believe the balls on this guy!? I’m not sure what this says about me, but I love a geopolitical food fight. In case you don’t know, France has super strict laws in place to protect the reputation of its champagne (aka the sparkling wine grown and produced in Champagne, France). Upon hearing the news, LVMH’s Moët Hennessy, which includes brands like Veuve Clicquot and Dom Pérignon, have suspended its shipments to Russia until further notice. France’s trade minster was quoted as saying “Be there no doubt: We will support without fail our producers and French excellence. Long live French champagne!”. You have to admire the French’s passion around their food! Vive la France! 🇫🇷🍾

  • BIZ NEWS // Subway is embarking on (another) rebrand. The company has already endured 5 straight years of decline, but they majorly struggled in the pandemic because very few locations had drive-throughs and there are very few delivery options. To lure customers back, they’re introducing two new bread recipes, four new sandwiches, 11 new ingredients, a nationwide delivery service, and an improved digital ordering experience. We’ll see if those changes do the trick. P.S. did you know there are more Subway locations worldwide than McDonalds?! 🥪

  • SHOPPING // Here’s a few clothing items I’ve purchased recently: this blouse from The Great, this geometric print dress (under $150), this black jumpsuit that can be dressed up OR down, these straight leg jeans, this embroidered top, this breezy floral print dress, this flowy floral under $100 dress, and - never thought I’d say this - but these white Birkenstocks. I got them hoping they’d improve my plantar fasciitis, and I think they have! Consider me a convert. 🛍️

  • FRIENDSHIP // A friend sent me this article and I had to share! It details how you can better understand and support your friends based on their enneagram number. There’s a lot of enneagram content our there, some of it better than others, but I think this article is super on point. I’m a 3 and it’s spot on at describing how I need to be both supported and challenged. Also, if you’re one of those people who rolls their eyes at Enneagram stuff (I get it… it’s become pretty ubiquitous!), I challenge you to take the test. Determine your type and then read about it! Learning about myself via the Enneagram was my first step on a several-years-long process of self-healing and becoming a much more authentic version of myself. I don’t say this lightly - it changed my life! 👯‍♀️

I hope all of you have an amazing weekend! Next week my brother and sister-in-law are coming to town, and then we’re all headed over to Concan, Texas (in the hill country) to spend a few days with my dad at a house on the Frio River. I can’t wait!

XOXO,

Liz
