Navy and Black with a Hat
Top: Splendid, I also like this one // Jeans: J. Crew (no longer available, similar style on sale here) // Scarf: H&M (sold out, similar here and here, blanket scarf here) // Booties: BP // Bag: Old Navy (on sale), designer version here // Hat: J. Crew // Watch: Michael Kors // Triple Ring Set: Kohl's (on sale) // Earrings: Baublebar
Not mixing navy with black was one of those rules I learned somewhere along the way. It wasn't until relatively recently when I realized that rule was silly. Done right, navy and black can look great together, and I think this outfit proves it - if I do say so myself!
To make the color scheme work for me, I picked two navy items - that lightweight H&M scarf (sold out, but similar here and here) and the Old Navy bucket bag - and paired it with a simple black tee from my closet. By picking two navy items, it ties the look together pretty effortlessly. However, I think my favorite part of this look is my Fedora (only $65!). I can't wait to wear it more once it starts getting cooler here in Texas.
Bottom line - don't be afraid to break outdated fashion "rules". Lord knows there's plenty of rules out there we have to follow already. ;)
