Game Day Style & Texas Jewelry
I am very excited to announce that I will be a regular guest blogger for Austin Fashion Week. This post is the first of the hopefully many more to come from our partnership, and it recently appeared on AFW's redesigned and gorgeous new blog.
Without a doubt, the seasonal transition from summer to fall is one of my favorite times of the year. The reprieve from scorching summer temps. The introduction of scarves and cozy sweaters. The switch from iced coffee to flavored lattes. And, of course, the start of football season. Like any good Texan, I look forward to football season from pretty much the moment season ends. And, like any good University of Texas alum, on any given Saturday from September through January you'll find me sporting burnt orange.
I always try to be creative when styling my burnt orange and white. This is true for any school you attend – search for pieces beyond your school bookstore’s t-shirts. Luckily for us Longhorn fans, it's easy to find great burnt orange pieces because we have so many great local designers and storefronts. I worked with two of them – Longhorn Fashions and Pearl Southern Couture – to style five unique game day looks for y'all.
I loved this off-shoulder blouse from Pearl Southern Couture. Not only is it super comfortable and flattering, it's also very on-trend. I paired it with my burnt orange jeans and Clare V clutch.
How fun is this fringe crop top?! It's also from Pearl Southern Couture and comes in a variety of school colors. Plus, not only is it good for game day, it would be great for festival wear. I chose some high waisted jeans and my caged sandals to round out this look. The Kendra Scott earrings add a touch of color.
Florals have made the transition from summer to fall, and this top from Longhorn Fashions captures this trend perfectly. The white snakeskin clutch, also from Longhorn Fashions, really makes the flowers pop.
It's time to break out the booties! What's great about booties is that they add height without sacrificing comfort, and comfort is key for game day. This flowy orange blouse above from Longhorn Fashions is perfect for layering once the chilly temps arrive, making it a perfect bootie companion. That gorgeous white stone necklace is from Jordan Loves James.
And finally, the navajo skirt below from Pearl Southern Couture makes for a fun twist on game day attire. I paired mine with a simple white tee, a jean jacket, and my go-to Tory Burch flip flops.
Don't worry – I didn't forget about the accessories! Jordan Loves James, Amanda Deer Jewelry, and Longhorn Fashions all have a gorgeous selection of Texas themed jewelry. And who doesn't love some Texas themed jewelry?!
I love this gold Texas ring from Longhorn Fashions.
Here's another look at the Texas ring, which I wore alongside this lovely longhorn cuff by Jordan Loves James. I can't say enough good things about that cuff - it's weighty, well-made, and so unique.
How adorable is this dainty "I Heart Texas" necklace from Amanda Deer Jewelry? It added just the right amount of sparkle to my look, and it's perfect for layering.
Above is another cuff by Jordan Loves James - this one is Texas shaped and is just as high-quality as its longhorn companion. Plus, this one is two-toned, so it can be easily worn with any of the other jewelry in your collection.
And just because I am slightly obsessed with it, below is another peek at that longhorn cuff.

I hope these looks inspire your own game day style, and Hook 'Em Horns!
