Until recently, I feared hats. I have always liked hats, and always found myself looking for "socially acceptable" occasions to wear hats (like the Kentucky Derby), but I feared them. Then I realized I was caring more about what other people thought than what I thought. And you know what, I think I look pretty cute in a hat so I'm gonna wear it! I'm working on employing that attitude more often in my life, and it's been a fun process. My fab and super talented sister-in-law Daniella Mason (she's gonna be famous soon, y'all) has inspired me to wear hats as well. She is constantly rockin' that look.

I think lavender and burgundy actually look pretty good together, so I chose this drapey top to wear with my hat. I paired it with some distressed jeans (my favorite pair, btw), that amazing and versatile Clare V leopard clutch, and some simple accessories.

Don't fear the hat!
