The Liz List - June 26, 2020
Happy Friday, everyone! Hope you had an awesome week!
Mine was good! My husband left Wednesday morning on a work trip, so it’s been just us girls around the house the last couple days, which was nice. Nice because 1) it meant things were quiet - my husband talks on the phone a LOT for work, and since he’s been working from home since COVID hit… it’s a lot of talking! 😂 and 2) I had saved up a couple weeks worth of Bravo shows and so the past two nights after Kate went to bed I lounged on the couch and caught up on Housewives and Vanderpump and it was 💯. Last night I ordered pizza and popped open some champagne… just heaven! 🍕🍾
We don’t have any plans this weekend. In fact, I think the goal is to stay home and relax. We’ve been on the go a lot, so it’s a welcome weekend off. Next week is a short one because of the 4th of July holiday, which I’m very much looking forward to. Accordingly, there won’t be a Liz List next week as I’ll be taking off to celebrate the holiday with family. 🇺🇸
Without further ado, here’s this week’s Liz List round up…
HOME TOUR: Check out this colorful Texas beach house project from the Heather Scott Home team. I love it! They shared more images from the home on their Instagram earlier this week and it’s so fun! Perfect for a beach house. 🏖️
TRAVEL: Last week I updated y’all on some travel opening up, but a few things have shifted since then. It seemed like most of Europe was set to reopen on July 1, but that may (or may not) be changing. The European Union is now considering a recommendation to block U.S. travelers due to the recent uptick in coronavirus cases. New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut have imposed quarantines for incoming visitors from other states (including Texas). Bottom line… it’s complicated and the situation changes almost daily. Here’s a few more travel-related updates… the U.S. cruise ban has been extended until September 15th (though “small” ships under 250 passengers are still sailing), flights to Portugal from the U.S. will resume June 4, here’s a super helpful guide to how and when the Caribbean islands are reopening to tourists this summer, and Disney World has opened back up for new reservations and will reopen July 11. ✈️
CELEBRITY: Houston rapper Travis Scott just purchased a $23.5 million dollar home in Los Angeles. It’s 16,700 square feet, and he paid in cash. It looks like a yacht! 💰
KEEPING IT LOCAL: For my fellow Austinites, here’s a round up of yummy brunch spots from Conde Nast. I can personally vouch for Josephine House! It’s delicious and fresh and the atmosphere is super cute. One correction on the list, however, is that Magnolia Cafe closed its doors (at the beginning of quarantine). If you’re planning a staycation or driving in from out of town, here’s a list of 18 Austin-area hotels worth booking. Our hotel scene has really blown up the past few years… some of these I’ve never even heard of, but they all look great! 🍳
WORLD NEWS: This article from the BBC was a little frightening to read. Apparently temperatures in the Arctic Circle have reached 100 degrees - the highest temperature ever recorded. Apparently this could lead to an increase in forest fires and other negative side effects. 2020 sure isn’t kidding around! 🌍
Enjoy your weekend!
XOXO,
Liz
