How’s everyone doing? How was your week? Mine was good! I did have a couple of down days, but they were heavily outweighed by some GREAT days.

My biggest highlight was driving to Houston so I could finally meet my newest nephew - baby Wyatt - and he was just the sweetest little angel baby. 👼🏼 I can’t wait for Kate to meet him later this summer! Also, while my husband and I were down there, we decided to make the most of it and stopped by my bestie Emma’s place for a couple spritzes (💃🏻) and had the BEST time hanging out with her and her new husband.

And speaking of quality social interaction… as you’re reading this, we’re currently in the Texas Hill Country with a couple of friends. We’re spending the day outdoors, probably enjoying some beers, and perhaps floating along the Llano River. It should be a fun day! 🌤️

Finally, I’ll share with blog readers a fun little life update before I say anything on Instagram... 🥁 We’re buying an RV! Yes, seriously. 😅 I think we’re picking it up tomorrow, but the exact timeline on that is still TBD. Maybe early next week? I have lots to share on this topic (including pictures!), so I’ll save further details for a future blog post. But, I’m very excited! 🏕️

Without further ado, here’s what I’ve been into this week:

  • FUTURE OF TRAVEL: Been wondering how Europe is going to reopen for tourists in the wake of COVID-19? Apparently Europe is too, and they’re hoping to open up (to some degree) as soon as this summer. To learn more about the timeline and what European travel might look like for visitors read this article from CNN and then this one from CNBC. Reserving time slots for the pool? Wild times we’re living in! ✈️

  • PETITION: I signed this petition yesterday, and I thought some of you might be interested as well. The petition calls for allowing pregnant women who are hospitalized to have support partners in the hospital during COVID-19. It’s specific to New York City, but I’m hoping this movement spreads! For conditions like Preeclampsia (which is a common reason for hospitalization during pregnancy), anxiety makes everything worse for mom and baby. I can’t imagine being pregnant and hospitalized during a pandemic without access to a loved one. 💔

  • TIKTOK: This article from the Hollywood Reporter about the explosive social media app TikTok is a super interesting read. It’s about the behind-the-scenes, business side of things. These kids are making bank! 💰

  • REAL ESTATE: I’ve seen some buzz about companies deciding to work from home full-time even beyond quarantine (Twitter being a big one!) and found this article about the commercial real estate market to be super interesting. Sounds like a lot more of us may be working from home in the future. 🏢

  • POP CULTURE: On the pop-culture front, probably the biggest news story of the week was the “fight” (for lack of a better word) between NYT cooking columnist Alison Roman and Chrissy Teigen. Here’s an article summing up what went down, and why - this actually is pretty important. I follow both of them on Instagram and love them both, so was happy to see they appear to have (genuinely) made amends. 👩🏻‍🍳

  • BUSINESS NEWS: Uber will require all drivers and riders to wear masks starting on Monday. 😷

  • MENTAL HEALTH: A very well-written piece from Camille Styles on what she doesn’t want to end post-Quarantine. I loved reading this! 💆🏻‍♀️

XOXO,

Liz
